IKEA | Leading the Way in Smart Logistics Upgrade

IKEA Home Furnishings is a renowned furniture retailer from Sweden, with 356 stores in 29 countries and regions worldwide, offering one-stop home solutions to a vast consumer base. IKEA employs a globalized procurement model and has established three purchasing regions in mainland China, with 19 retail stores. Its procurement volume in China accounts for 18% of the total, ranking first in the industry.

Project Background

In modern enterprise supply chains, warehouse management systems play a crucial role. Faced with vast amounts of warehouse data, there is a need for digitization and real-time operation of internal inventory control. Especially for IKEA, which adopts a global procurement model with a large scale and multiple control points, it is essential to build an intelligent warehouse digitization platform.

Infodator has built an intelligent supply chain logistics system for IKEA. Infodator's digital employee, iBot, works around the clock, freely switching between multiple business systems in the supply chain. This automation enables processes such as global booking, logistics information updates, and system maintenance, leading to cost reduction and efficiency improvement in IKEA's supply chain operations.

Project Description

Smart Logistics:

Infodator's iBot has established a complete Internet of Things system for IKEA's nationwide stores, enabling seamless connectivity between online and offline goods and selecting the optimal delivery route with consumers at the center. Additionally, through digitized control of the product lifecycle, digital matching of product distribution with store demands, and intelligent replenishment systems, a multifaceted ecosystem for logistics has been created. This drives the intelligent, intensive, informational, and collaborative development of logistics, helping the brand effectively reduce inventory turnover days.

Smart Booking:

The booking process requires inputting extensive information, and manual repetitive operations not only lack efficiency but also risk missing appropriate slots and are prone to errors. With the iBot intelligent booking robot, warehouse slots can be automatically reserved based on booking requirements and rules. After confirming booking details, product information is filled in, completing all booking information input and subsequent processes.

Project Results

Infodator and IKEA collaborated to create a cross-border logistics intelligent service system, a significant initiative in implementing the national strategy for building an international logistics supply chain and a modern integrated transportation system. Leveraging digitized and intelligent technologies, the partnership aimed to help IKEA address the impacts and changes in cross-border logistics brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. This endeavor reflects a commitment to humanitarian care, as well as a transformation towards digitalization to reshape its lifeline. Together, they explored an innovative path to progress, paving the way for a brand-new future in the home furnishing industry.
