MetLife|The Best Practices of Mobile Automation

MetLife, Inc. has over 140 years of life insurance experience and is the largest life insurance company in North America. MetLife through various channels such as agency distribution, bancassurance, direct marketing, and group insurance, Sino-American MetLife provides a range of insurance services to the Chinese population, including life, health, accident, and savings-oriented insurance products.

Project Background

MetLife has experienced a significant increase in business volume on its mobile platform, prompting a shift from traditional offline insurance applications to mobile apps. The mobile applications urgently require maintenance and upgrades. However, the testing workload is heavy, and the cost of manpower is high. Execution requires departmental consensus and coordination, making it difficult to respond promptly and accurately to service demands. Additionally, the new regulatory policies from the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission impose higher internal control management requirements on insurance online sales applications. To address these challenges, Infodator actively pursued technological transformation by deploying a DevOps platform for Sino-American MetLife. This involved adopting agile development and testing methods and pioneering a commercial mobile automation platform. Supported by RPA for IT management, Infodator streamlined the toolchain to ensure the rapid deployment of applications and fully leverage automation technology to meet new internal and external requirements.

Project Description

Online Sales Management Automation:

In response to the requirements from the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission for insurance institutions to implement traceable management of internet insurance sales activities, iBot digital employees are utilized to record behavior comprehensively. Faced with complex information such as product versions, sales interfaces, and user behaviors, iBot ensures full recording of actions. When online sales products are updated, it automatically executes the purchase process and captures screenshots to prevent human errors leading to improper supervision. This ensures accurate and complete restoration of real operations for accountability.

Software Testing Automation:

The stability of insurance signing is the foundation of business revenue, requiring frequent tests such as application data generation and core system data entry. Manual simulation of insurance signing by testing personnel is not only labor-intensive but also prone to data omissions. Moreover, black box testing is sporadic and often experiences breakpoints or terminations. iBot digital employees automatically simulate the entire process of new contracts, policy changes, and claims processing, automatically completing relevant data for mandatory fields. This ensures the stability of insurance signing while avoiding human errors and the randomness of manual testing.

End-to-End Automation Integration:

In a groundbreaking move, Infodator has developed iBot MobileHub, a mobile RPA solution tailored for Sino-American MetLife. Continuing its tradition of zero-code development, iBot MobileHub supports mainstream operating systems and batch operations without the need for data cable connections. This enables mobile office automation with freedom. From server-side to desktop-side, and now to mobile-side, this innovative practice achieves end-to-end automation integration, enabling unified management and centralized scheduling.

Project Results

Currently, over 50 products of  MetLife are managed automatically by iBot, leading to a reduction of over 10 external hires. The complete recording of the business cycle reaches 100%, saving 1,080 person-days per year. Process efficiency has increased by over 70%, fully tapping into the potential of the insurance industry's mobile internet business. By leveraging automation technology, productivity in mobile business management has been unleashed, laying a solid foundation for business expansion with batch operations. Additionally, agile automation testing has redefined software testing, enhancing the stability and efficiency of processes such as data generation.
